Young Rider Mentorship Application Deadline

Have you ever wondered what goes in to running an international level eventing competition? What exactly does a Technical Delegate do? What was that course designer thinking?

Young Rider members have the opportunity to job shadow some of the most prestigious eventing officials in the world at The FEI North American Youth Championship held during The Event at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, MT July 24th-28th, 2019.

The Young Rider protégé has the opportunity to work with:

  • President of the Ground Jury-FEI

  • Member of the Ground Jury-FEI

  • FEI Steward

  • FEI Technical Delegate

  • Chief FEI Veterinarian

  • Organizer for Eventing

  • Cross Country Course Designer/ Cross Country Builder

Applicants are required to be current USEA Area IV Young Rider members age 18 or older.

Applications must be received by the Area IV Young Rider Coordinator by April 15th, 2019.

Virtual Team Deadline

Virtual Team Deadline

Young Rider Virtual Team Competition  will run from 1/1/19 - 11/1/19 and allow participants to earn points at all recognized events and mini events that directly benefit recognized events. 

Teams will be formed by May 1st, 2019. You can submit for participation in events earlier in the year. Late teams may be formed after May 1st but will only be eligible to count points earned after their sign-up date.

Email youngriders@useaiv.org to join a Virtual Team. Must be current member of the 2019 Area IV Young Riders Program. Include rider USEA #, horse USEA #, and current email.

Organized by Area IV Young Rider parent Anne Branscum, DVM, the Young Riders will offer an educational opportunity to benefit the health of your horses. All funds raised will benefit the Area IV Young Riders Program.

North American Youth Championships

The Adequan/FEI North American Youth Championships (NAYC) competition is held annually in the summer. The NAYC is the pinnacle of a young rider's achievement. Teams from all areas of the U.S. as well as from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Caribbean are invited to compete in this international event. The championship models the format of the Olympic Games. In the Eventing competition, each area will send a team and/individuals to represent their area. From very early on, many young riders see this as a potential goal for themselves as they progress through the levels of competition.

XC Schooling & Combined Test to Benefit Area IV Young Riders

Mission Valley Pony Club in conjunction with Area IV Young Riders will host an open cross-country schooling at Longview Horse Park in Grandview, MO on Saturday, October 12th. Proceeds will benefit the Area IV Young Riders Program.

A schooling Combined Test will be held Sunday, October 13th at Longview Horse Park and will offer dressage and cross-country phases. Details To Be Announced.

Hagyard Midsouth Team Challenge

Area IV Young Riders will select riders at BN, Novice, Training and Preliminary levels to represent Area IV at the Hagyard Midsouth Team Challenge.  Interested riders will be required to submit an application, 1 letter of reference and meet requirements in order to represent Area IV. Applications must be received by July 1st. Fundraising requirement must be met by August 1st.

NAYC Declaration of Intent Deadline

Young Rider members wishing to represent Area IV at the 2019 North American Youth Championships in Kalispell, MT must submit an Declaration of Intent no later than 12:00pm Eastern Daylight Time on Friday, March 1st, 2019. Please be aware that all horse and rider registrations and passports must be completed by this time as well. The 2019 Selection Procedures are not yet published by USEF. A link will be provided once available.
